We had dinner at RAA in Hiriketiya, and it was knockout. One of the best meals I have had in a long time, anywhere in the world. We took the staff’s recommendations and everything was brilliant — nothing was a disappointment. Dishes included smoked chicken, roti, dal, and a mango curry (which I didn’t think I would like, but it was amazing). Every dish was full of flavour, beautifully presented, and at the level I would expect in a top London restaurant — in a beautiful beachside location. There are two sections to sit in: tiered seating overlooking the beach, and tables closer to the shore by the bar. The energy is lively but relaxed, and the setting is stunning at sunset. Cocktails were equally impressive. Side note: it gets very, very busy — make a reservation in advance if you can. They also catered for dairy and egg allergies which made the experience stress-free. RAA should not be missed. A must-visit in Hiriketiya.

Incredible Sri Lankan food accompanied by top tier cocktails. The jumbo prawns will be in my dreams for a long time. I highly recommend booking in advance especially for dinner. Only minor thing: they should invest in umbrellas or cover for the tables in the sand.

RAA was simply amazing! We reserved a table at 5pm to watch the sunset (there was none but we could still watch the surfers which was great fun!) and enjoyed delicious traditional Sri Lankan dishes and drinks with local ingredients. We tried different things and loved everything. I highly recommend reserving a table or being there at 5pm when they open to get a walk-in table if they have one.

We arrived for our booking at 5pm and had a table at the front which was perfect for the sunset. We ordered four curry dishes (all veggie) with roti and rice — beautifully presented with very tasty flavours and sufficient for two. Service was attentive and with a smile. Total cost felt worth it as a treat night.

I was blown away with this meal and location. The flavours packed such a punch with each dish and if I could choose a place to eat every day in Hiriketiya it would be here. I’d recommend the chicken, jackfruit curry, sambal, and pickled aubergines.

As much as I loved Smoke & Bitters, RAA took things to another level with its incredible location. Being right by the water with an uninterrupted ocean view made for an unforgettable dining experience. The “Modern Sri Lankan” menu is brilliant — some of the best food I’ve ever had — and cocktails were inspired by local arrack. Huge thanks to the team for exceptional hospitality.
